Legacy Users from Houdini v1.0
Q: Do I have to pay the $0.99 monthly subscription if I bought the Houdini Playlist Transfer app in the past?
A: You're eligible for a free lifetime subscription to the Houdini Playlists app, launched in 2021, if you purchased the app before January 2020. You'll need to send us proof of this purchase to be eligible. Find past purchases by opening the App Store app on your iPhone > Account > Purchased. Send us an email to support @houdini.io with the proof of purchase screenshot attached. Once we verify the purchase we will send you a promo code and instructions for a free lifetime subscription for the Houdini Playlists app. Please give us 3-5 business days to reply.
Supported Streaming Services
Q: What streaming services do you support?
A: Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. More will be added soon!
Q: Why don't you support Tidal or other services?
A: We are working on adding new streaming services. For now we are perfecting the current services and making sure things are stable.
Region & Country Availability
Q: Is the Houdini Playlists app available in my country?
A: The Houdini Playlists app is available for both iPhone and Android mobile devices. It is available for download and use in most countries supported by Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Trials and Pricing Plans
Q: Why doesn't the Houdini Playlists app have a free trial period to see if it works?
A: The Houdini Playlists app is a utility app that helps users move their playlist freely between streaming music services (Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, Youtube Music). Since the app is most commonly used once to transfer playlists to a new music service, we feel the $0.99 monthly subscription is a low cost for customers trying out the app. You can always cancel the subscription at any time.
Q: What do I get for the $0.99 monthly subscription?
A: As a Houdini Playlists subscriber you get an unlimited amount of playlists transfers (with unlimited number of songs); auto-sync an unlimited number of playlist changes across the supported music services (Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, Youtube Music); and you can share a universal Houdini playlist link to friends and followers, so they can use the Houdini Playlists app for free to transfer your shared playlist to their music services (Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, Youtube Music).
Q: How do I request a refund?
A: Apple maintains a very strict data security policy and
does not allow refunding your subscription for you. To
submit your refund request you must do so through Apple.
Apple often gives customers reimbursement within 90 days of
purchase. We suggest sending an initial refund request
here.
Google/Android users have 48 hours to issue a refund. You
can request a refund in the Google Play Store app and go to
"Account > Purchase History" to request a refund.
Transfer Errors
Q: Songs are missing from the new transferred playlist. What happened?
A: Not all songs/artists/albums are licensed on all music services. We match the best we can and very often have >98% match rate. You can see what songs missed by clicking on a transfer details, then click the top right corner “!” button. That view will list the songs that we could not find matches on the destination service.
Q: Why can't I can't transfer my playlist from Spotify to Apple Music (or other service transfer)?
A: The answer varies. A couple reasons are 1) your playlist might be too large for us to transfer (1500+ songs), 2) Your access token for one of the two services may be expired or invalid, try revoking and reconnecting services, 3) one of the two service's might be down, in this case wait and try again later, or 4) Houdini is rate limited under certain conditions and at peak usage times, try again later.
Q: Why are my playlist transfers getting stuck at 99%?
A: It's difficult to predict how long a transfer will take. If you have a percentage, it means we did start processing your transfer. It's likely that the transfer is taking longer than usual or the music services are being slow to respond to our requests. Be patient, especially for larger playlists!
Streaming Service Connection Errors
Q: Why can't the Houdini Playlists app connect to my Apple Music account on my Android mobile device?
A: If you land on the Play Store after trying to connect your Apple Music, it might be because you do not have the app. From time to time, Apple changes their app and it has broken this link in the past, but this has since been fixed.
Transferring Youtube Music Likes
Q: Why can't I transfer my Youtube Music Likes?
A: Youtube blocks 3rd parties from accessing your list of liked music/videos since 2020. We are unable to display the liked music as a playlist in Houdini.
Q: How can I transfer my Youtube Music Likes?
A: There are ways of converting your liked music/videos on Youtube into a playlist for transfer. You can follow this (somewhat complicated) method of converting it to a playlist here: Making a Copy of the Liked Videos Playlist
